Page last updated: 8 February, 2008
Sacrewell is a working farm administered by the William Scott Abbott Trust, a charitable organisation devoted to agricultural improvement, education and research.
Situated just northwest of Peterborough. Visitors have the chance to relax in a pleasant, rural setting, whilst they explore the modern working farm, meet the friendly farm animals and investigate the working water mill. Find out opening times and how to get there »
Bread making and milling demonstrations are taking place between Friday and Sunday.
Kids can knead the dough and bake their own bread in the Old Bakery, and see the watermill come to life with the milling demonstrations.
Could you help at Sacrewell?
IF you are aged over 18, have time on your hands, want a challenge and fancy doing something a bit different, Sacrewell is always looking for new volunteers to help out on the farm.
Although they aren’t currently looking for volunteers to help with animal care, they are looking for help in four other areas – gardens, watermill, mill house and bygone machinery.
Keen gardeners are needed to help with the upkeep and development of the grounds and Mill House Garden.
Watermill stewards are needed to give talks, demonstrations and guided tours of the watermill, mainly at weekends and school holidays.
Room stewards are needed to give talks about life in the ’40s, again, mainly during school holidays and at weekends. The bygone machinery unit needs volunteers to give bits and bobs a lick of paint, or take part in full restoration projects.
Volunteers enjoy subsidised refreshments in the café on the days they are helping.
